Alergiile sunt practic un raspuns anormal al sistemului imunitar impotriva substantelor normal inofensive, care sunt cunoscute sub denumirea de alergeni.

Corpul persoanei alergice reactioneaza prin eliberarea de substante chimice care produc in cele din urma simptome cum ar fi stranut, curgerea nasului, eruptii cutanate sau umflaturi. In unele cazuri, alergiile pot duce chiar la simptome care pun viata in pericol.

Cele mai frecvente tipuri de alergii includ rinita alergica (febra fanului), alergiile alimentare, dermatita atopica (eczeme). Alergiile sunt printre cele mai frecvente motive pentru care oamenii viziteaza medicul.

Simptome de alergie

Intr-o reactie alergica, organismul elibereaza substante chimice, inclusiv histamina si leucotriene. Alergiile alimentare pot produce simptome ale pielii, inclusiv urticarie, umflaturi, mancarime si roseata, dar pot avea si simptome digestive, cum ar fi greata sau diaree si simptome respiratorii.

Rinita alergica din polen, mucegaiurile, matreata animalelor de casa si acarienii creaza in primul rand simptome respiratorii, cum ar fi stranutul, curgerea nasului, mancarimea ochilor si congestia nazala. Dermatita de contact are ca rezultat o piele rosie, cu mancarime si vezicule.

In reactiile alergice severe, pot exista simptome de anafilaxie cu umflarea fetei, limbii, buzelor, gatului sau a membrelor; urticarie, probleme de respiratie si tensiune arteriala scazuta. Aceasta este o urgenta medicala si este nevoie de tratament imediat.

Cauze

Alergenii sunt in mod normal substante inofensive care duc la dezvoltarea simptomelor alergice la cei predispusi la alergii. Acestia includ factori precum polenul, latexul, mucegaiurile, parul de animale, acarienii, anumite alimente si anumite medicamente.

Testarea alergiei poate identifica ce alergeni sunt responsabili pentru simptomele dumneavoastra. Pentru precizie, acest lucru ar trebui facut numai de catre un profesionist medical, mai degraba decat folosind testele la domiciliu.
